At the half way point of Term One I would like to congratulate our students on the fantastic way they have begun the school year. Our school values of ‘We are Learners’, ‘We show Respect’ and ‘We are fair’ are well understood by our students. We are looking forward to completing the second half of Term One in a similar fashion.
The Hot Lunches have been going for a few weeks now and we are grateful to Jane and the team of volunteers who prepare the lunches. This is something the children and staff look forward to each week (along with parents who don’t need to prepare a lunch box).
Once again, thanks for your support and understanding with COVID safety measures. As the rest of the community is relaxing mask rules we are needing to remind ourselves at school to keep the mask wearing up. Thanks to parents for keeping children who are ill at home. We have Rapid Antigen Tests (RATS) available at school for children to use – you can collect 1 box of 5 tests per student every two weeks. Testing is encouraged twice weekly (but not mandatory).
I have been asked to forward a letter from the department of Health requesting your input via a survey about COVID-19 vaccinations for children aged 5-11. The letter is below, including a link to the survey.
Michael Edwards
Principal
Dear parents and carers
The Victorian Department of Health is seeking parent and carer views in relation to COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 5 to 11.
The Department of Health recognises that there are many reasons that influence parent or carer decisions regarding vaccinations for children aged 5 to 11.
COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 5 to 11 is voluntary. By completing the survey, you will help the Department of Health to:
Who should complete the survey?
The survey is designed for parents or carers of children aged 5 to 11 years old in Victoria. All people whose children aged 5 to 11 have and have not yet been vaccinated against COVID-19 are encouraged to complete the survey.
What is involved?
The survey will take 5-10 minutes to complete. Please click on the link to complete the online survey. Translated surveys are available. The survey closes at 5pm AEDST Thursday 17 March 2022.
How will the information I provide be used?
Your response to the survey is confidential and will remain anonymous. No identifiable responses will be shared with your child/ren’s school or any other party.
We will summarise survey results. Victorian Government departments will use this summary to inform COVID-19 vaccination program planning and improvements. We may also use summary level data for presentations and reports / publications.
Further information about how the Department of Health handles your personal information is set out in Department of Health’s Privacy Statement.
What if I need help completing the survey?
Please call 03 8850 7293 if you need help on completing the survey or technical support.

Yours Sincerely
Department of Health

Please see the kitchen helper roster below.
Let's get composting!
The kitchen would like to kick start the YPS composting system again... we have a couple of composting bins and they will be set up in a new location in the coming weeks. This will help us turn our kitchen food scraps into a delicious living compost for the gardens.
Is there anyone out there that has a 10-15L plastic bucket, with a lid that they would be happy to donate to the school kitchen? (before we go out to buy one!)
This will allow us to move the scraps from the kitchen to the compost easily.
Have a great week

Money raised will support staff in implementing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) programs, including the purchasing of associated resources.
In exchange for a generous contribution of $50 to the new STEM Fund, a personalised engraved paver will be placed in the new Dry Creek Bed Play Space between the timber bridge and the pedestrian access gate onto High Street (photo below). This area was meant to be paved in the original design, however we ran out of time last year!
Each paver can be personalised with up to three lines of text (maximum of 17 characters per line including spaces, all caps lock and centred on the paver). Buy one for the whole family or one each!
But you’ll have to be quick – with a limited number of pavers available, we will sell out! Don’t miss this opportunity to leave a long-lasting momento at Yack Primary!
How to order:
1. Complete the google form (one per paver) found here https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc7D86Iur1PEgOP2gZeuLzbvJ5vrUxeJDM0KCcvZ-AYrqfDsQ/viewform
2. Transfer payment ($50 per paver) to the school bank account (Westpac) including "PAVER: SURNAME" as the reference.
(The *NEW* Westpac bank account details are listed at the bottom of the google form)
3. We will send you a confirmation email once your order has been processed.

Worlds’s Greatest Shave
Sally Bayne is going to shave her hair on Friday the 18th March 2022 on stage in the beer garden at The Star Hotel. Sal has grown her hair long enough to provide 2 wigs for children who are going through Blood Cancer treatment. She is determined to remind people of this nasty disease that many have forgotten during the focus of Covid. Please show your support by donating either by following the link below or putting your donation in the money tin at the front desk in the school office. All those who donate are invited to join Sal in the beer garden on Friday 18th to watch the big moment. Suzy Ridgeway will be chief hairdresser and whoever is the largest donor will be given the honour of the first chop. We will have a little party to celebrate Sal’s sacrifice and donation made to the Leukaemia Foundation with music and pizzas for kids.
