Issue 4

From the Principal

Congratulations to all the children who came back to school ready to slot straight back into learning routines after the three day lockdown last week. Thanks to families who supported the children at home and helped them to readjust back to school so easily.

On Friday last week 18 swimmers from Yackandandah Primary School competed in the Division Swimming Sports in Wodonga. All who competed gave their best and represented our school wonderfully well. There are a number of children who have qualified for the Regional Swimming Sports in Shepparton. Brendan will share details of the Regional Swimming over the next week.

School Council nominations have closed. There were four positions becoming vacant on School Council and four nominations were received. This means that those nominees have been automatically elected and an election is not needed. Congratulations to Jane Dowsley, Michael Walsh, Jane Shepherd and Leigh Attwood on their election to School Council for the next two years. The first meeting for new school councillors will be on March 22nd. There is a school council meeting 6:30 this evening for the current school council.

We would love to give your unused toys, sports equipment, books and art supplies and new lease on life! If you have anything you believe is suitable please feel free to leave them in our OSHC space for our children to use!

Please note you MUST sign you child in and out using the iPad provided. As part of our policies this must be done by a parent or guardian as you drop off or pick up their child. Our staff are there to assist you with this process if needed, they are well equipped to manage any troubles which can occur when using this technology.

We recognise that hygiene is imperative during these times therefore we have provided hand sanitiser for you to use prior to using our iPad.

For those students who are attending Before School Care and arriving before 8, we do offer a small breakfast if requested. Please ensure you pre arrange this with Siobhan via email if this will be a regular occurrence to ensure we able to best cater and care for your children. Reminder this is only for students arriving before 8.

Term 1 Vacation Care

We will begin working on our Vacation care program for term 1 this week and will have it published for you soon. We are working closely with children to incorporate some of their wonderful ideas into our program.

Our Program

Last week was a fun one at OSHC! We have been playing lots of group games, encouraging children to explore ideas around teamwork, encouragement and having fun!

In the upcoming weeks we are going to be looking at other aspects that make our group games fun and fair for everyone!

We are also starting to create a themed window display with our children, this month we will be looking at Japan. We will be exploring traditions, food, culture and language! Have any families been to Japan? Do you have any fun holiday snaps you’d like to share with us?

Children have also begun creating the OSHC box city! If you have any boxes you'd like to donate to this fun creative project please feel free to leave them in the OSHC space. All sizes and shaped boxes welcome, nothing is off limits to the creative genius of our OSHC children.

We would like to put the call out to our wider OSHC community on ideas to incorporate into our program. If your child has a particular interest you'd like us to explore more or if you have something you would love to see us doing at OSHC please let us know, we would love your input!

Thanks OSHC
