Out of Hours Care
Philosophy & Aims of OSHC
The aim of the Yackandandah Primary Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) Program is to provide a high quality Before and After School Care program and Vacation Care program which meets the recreational, social and developmental needs of primary school aged children within the local and surrounding community.
The Program has been providing quality services to families in the area since 1992.
The Program aims to provide children with the opportunity to interact and co-operate in a safe environment with their peers and to provide a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere in which children can participate in activities relevant to their needs.
LocationThe OSHC Program is located in the open learning area upstairs in the main school building.
Session Times, Availability and Fees
Before School Care: 7.00 am – 8.45 am (15 places available)
Every school morning $10.00 per session
After School Care: 3.30 pm – 6.00 pm (30 places available)
Every school afternoon $15.00 per session
Curriculum Day Care: 8.00 am – 6.00 pm (15 places available)
Pupil Free Days $30.00 per day
Vacation Care: 8.00 am – 6.00 pm (15 places available)
School Holidays $35.00 per day
Public Holidays: It should be noted that the OSHC Program will not operate on the public holidays
The Program aims to provide quality childcare with a range of stimulating recreational activities for all children in attendance. Educators develop OSHC programs embracing the philosophies of the National Framework for School Aged Care in Australia –‘My Time, Our Place’.
Care is provided in a safe, comfortable, relaxed and fun environment.
The program consists of a variety of activities which include indoor and outdoor games, art, craft, music, sport and cooking.
Outdoor play is supervised at all times.
A planned activities programme is available for each session. The programme is a guide only and may need to be varied dependant on children’s attendance, attitudes, behaviours and weather conditions.
Children are not to bring bikes, skateboards or rollerblades to sessions.
Excursions during the Vacation Care or After School Care Programs are planned from time to time. The mode of transportation will be either by foot, bicycle or bus – in each case a permission form will be issued and must be signed by a parent/guardian before the child/ren can participate.
At no time will children be transported in staff private cars.
Excursions during the Vacation Care or After School Care Programs are at an extra cost to families.
Food & Nutrition
Afternoon tea and drinks are provided during After School Care., Breakfast is available for Before School Care users if they arrive prior to 8.00am.
Afternoon tea consists of fruit and/or a nutritious snack, prepared in line with current food hygiene regulations. Children with food allergies are catered for upon advice from families as detailed in the enrolment form.
Each child is required to bring their own morning tea, lunch & afternoon tea during Vacation Care and Pupil Free Days. Families are urged to avoid including nuts or nut products as there are children enrolled at the service who are at risk of anaphylaxis.
