I hope that all families were able to enjoy the long weekend and share some extra family time on the public holiday. Once again, thank you for your support with COVID safe practices. It is still recommended that rapid antigen tests are conducted twice weekly. RATS are available for collection from the school office. Other covid safe measures such as masking, extra ventilation and vaccination requirements for adults on site are still in place, though QR code check-ins are no longer necessary.
We have received three nominations for parent positions on School Council. Thank you to those who nominated. As this does not exceed the number of positions available the three nominees are automatically elected. Congratulations to Orrin Pritchard, Kate Stagg and Hannah Glanville. The school council Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday 21st March, followed immediately by a regular meeting.

The House cross-country is taking place on Thursday, April 7, at the Yackandandah Sports park. The event will begin at 9am and we ask that students be dropped off at the sports park directly, after 8.40am, rather than going to school. The school bus will drop kids off at the sports park, and a teacher will walk with students from Before School Care, at 8.40am.
A draft timetable is below.
Students will be competing in their houses and are encouraged to wear their house colours for the day. Students should also wear appropriate footwear and bring their bag with snacks and water. Ribbons will be handed out for students who come 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their age group and gender. In the senior age groups (9/10, 11, 12/13) up to 10 runners from each classification can qualify for the District event. Students will need to demonstrate that they can run the course in a suitable time to qualify. The District event will be held in Yackandandah on Tuesday, May 3.
We do require several parents or carers to assist with supervision of the track on the day. This involves taking a position on the track to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants. If you are able to help with this, please complete the form at this link: https://forms.gle/CY4g6nNLvUrDHYDc8
Permission forms have been sent home today and need to be returned to school by Friday 25th March. As this is a sporting event the local excursion permission form does not cover it.

2023 Enrolment packs for Marian College in Myrtleford are available from the school office.
Money raised will support staff in implementing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) programs, including the purchasing of associated resources.
In exchange for a generous contribution of $50 to the new STEM Fund, a personalised engraved paver will be placed in the new Dry Creek Bed Play Space between the timber bridge and the pedestrian access gate onto High Street (photo below). This area was meant to be paved in the original design, however we ran out of time last year!
Each paver can be personalised with up to three lines of text (maximum of 17 characters per line including spaces, all caps lock and centred on the paver). Buy one for the whole family or one each!
But you’ll have to be quick – with a limited number of pavers available, we will sell out! Don’t miss this opportunity to leave a long-lasting momento at Yack Primary!
How to order:
1. Complete the google form (one per paver) found here https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc7D86Iur1PEgOP2gZeuLzbvJ5vrUxeJDM0KCcvZ-AYrqfDsQ/viewform
2. Transfer payment ($50 per paver) to the school bank account (Westpac) including "PAVER: SURNAME" as the reference.
(The *NEW* Westpac bank account details are listed at the bottom of the google form)
3. We will send you a confirmation email once your order has been processed.

Regenerating Australia is a short hybrid documentary directed by award-winning filmmaker Damon Gameau (2040, That Sugar Film) that asks the question, ‘What would Australia look like by 2030 if we simply listened to the needs of its people?’ The film is based on a four-month interview process with Australians from all walks of life who shared their hopes and dreams for the country’s future. It is a new story for our nation: a story of empowerment. A story of solutions. A story of regeneration.
We are reaching out to give you advance notice about this event, which is part of a nationwide series of special Q&A screening events in cinemas in capital cities and regional towns taking place from March 4 - May 16.
At these screening events, members of the local community will be invited to discuss the film and find out about opportunities to access support via WWF-Australia’s ‘Innovate to Regenerate’ funding challenge, which is providing $2 million in seed funding to help communities, innovators, and experts to establish or scale up innovative solutions that reverse environmental damage and help humans live in harmony with nature.
All screenings will feature an audience Q&A with expert panellists. We're also looking to connect with local speakers, performers and grassroots community organisations and would love your suggestions - Speakers & Community - Google Docs Form

Worlds’s Greatest Shave
Sally Bayne is going to shave her hair on Friday the 18th March 2022 on stage in the beer garden at The Star Hotel. Sal has grown her hair long enough to provide 2 wigs for children who are going through Blood Cancer treatment. She is determined to remind people of this nasty disease that many have forgotten during the focus of Covid. Please show your support by donating either by following the link below or putting your donation in the money tin at the front desk in the school office. All those who donate are invited to join Sal in the beer garden on Friday 18th to watch the big moment. Suzy Ridgeway will be chief hairdresser and whoever is the largest donor will be given the honour of the first chop. We will have a little party to celebrate Sal’s sacrifice and donation made to the Leukaemia Foundation with music and pizzas for kids.
