Our Annual General Meeting for School Council was held last Monday. Once again our President is Jane Dowsley and once again our Treasurer is Michael Walsh. We are fortunate as a school community to have committed and talented people willing to give their time and expertise. I would like to thank our school councillors for their commitment and willingness to serve others. I look forward to another strong year of school governance.
As the cooler mornings approach I encourage everyone to check that school jumpers and jackets are clearly labelled. Labelled jumpers almost always find their way back to owners. Unlabelled jumpers can easily end up in lost property or the second hand box.

Next Wednesday 6th April, all students will be attending a performance by Lucas Proudfoot. Musician, storyteller, and children’s author Lucas is a member of the Tweed Coast Bundjalung/South Sea Islander Community with a background in professional surfing, music and traditional Aboriginal dance.
With his school education program, Circular Rhythm, Lucas has been able to merge his many talents into a brilliant one-man performance that is highly interactive and informative about Australian Indigenous cultures. Students learn about different aspects of Australian Indigenous culture through contemporary and interactive musical performance.
Lucas uses guitar, didgeridoo, stomp box, clap sticks, boomerangs, and drums to bring the stories and music to life.
The cost for this performance is included in the family contributions that we are asking parents to pay.
The House cross-country is taking place on Thursday, April 7, at the Yackandandah Sports park. The event will begin at 9am and we ask that students be dropped off at the sports park directly, after 8.40am, rather than going to school. The school bus will drop kids off at the sports park, and a teacher will walk with students from Before School Care, at 8.40am.
A draft timetable is below.
Students will be competing in their houses and are encouraged to wear their house colours for the day. Students should also wear appropriate footwear and bring their bag with snacks and water. Ribbons will be handed out for students who come 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their age group and gender. In the senior age groups (9/10, 11, 12/13) up to 10 runners from each classification can qualify for the District event. Students will need to demonstrate that they can run the course in a suitable time to qualify. The District event will be held in Yackandandah on Tuesday, May 3.
We do require several parents or carers to assist with supervision of the track on the day. This involves taking a position on the track to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants. If you are able to help with this, please complete the form at this link: https://forms.gle/CY4g6nNLvUrDHYDc8
If you haven’t yet returned your permission form your child will take home another one tonight. Please return the form tomorrow. Thank you.

Junior School Council Termly Report
Hello, this is the Junior School Council here. This term we have been working hard to find out what our school community would like us to achieve this year! We busily surveyed the whole school to get their ideas and input! We are very excited to announce that our Term One event will be a Casual Clothes day on the last day of school. The school community that we surveyed decided that they would like a bubbler on the oval, so we are determined to make this happen! Therefore, our Casual Clothes Day will be a fundraiser to help us achieve our goal! The class who raises the most money will win themselves a session of FREE TIME (when it suits their teacher). So, dig deep and let’s get this bubbler on our oval! Our plan for Term 2 is to have a COLOUR RUN. In Term 3 we are planning a Disco with woodfired pizzas and in Term 4 we will be running a competition of some kind (yet to be decided). We are very excited for the year ahead!
Vacation Care!
The school holidays are approaching fast! We have created a wonderful program for the children to come and enjoy. We have ideas like Spy day, where you come dressed as a spy and get to be a spy for the whole day. We also have Sensory Day, this will allow the children to indulge in some activities to ignite their senses. Footy day will be in the second week, you can wear your favourite footy teams colours and train like a player. We have our old favourites Cooking Day and Art Bonanza! During the first week the children will get to do a lot of Easter craft and create an Easter tree for the service. Some of our days in the program will have a small price to pay for supplies.
We can’t wait to see you all on the Holidays!
