Don’t forget our 150 years of Public Education in Yackandandah celebration on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th November. I am still on the lookout for old school photographs, particularly class photographs, from before 2000. We hope you can join us on the Saturday for a family picnic and to view some historical photographs, play some games and perhaps even record a memory you may have of Yackandandah Primary School. We are hoping to see ex-students, teachers and others join us!
Next Monday (31st October) is a pupil free day. Teachers will be planning the ‘big picture’ curriculum for 2023. The following day, Tuesday 1st Nov, is the Melbourne Cup Public Holiday.

They were entertained with lots of mathematical games and quizzes and loads of circus tricks!
Zac Davis Represents Victoria!
In the past week, Zac Davis has been in Western Australia playing football (soccer), representing Victoria in the School Sports Australia championships in the 12 years and under division. This is an amazing achievement! And to add some icing on the cake, Victoria won! Congratulations, Zac, on this achievement – these things don’t happen by accident and require a great deal of hard work, commitment, and sacrifice, not just from you but also your family.
Lola Mahoney at the State Championships!
In other outstanding sporting news, Lola Mahoney recently competed in the State Gymnastic Championships in Geelong, placing third overall. Wow! Amazing stuff, Lola! Like Zac, this reflects the hard work, time, effort and sacrifice you and your family have committed to achieving such a great result at such a high level.
Last Thursday, all the students were thrilled to be a part of Emily’s mock wedding. We wish Emily & Bryce all the best on their wedding day on Friday.

OSHC Weekly Round Up!
Master Chef cooking class is a firm favourite in OSHC and this week we baked cookies. The children loved rolling the dough and pressing them down with a fork before baking.
Cooking with children can not only be fun, but also an educational experience for children here are some examples
– Numeracy and literacy skills, sensory exploration, physical development, cognitive development.
“Master Chef Cooking sessions are now on - Wednesday and Friday ASC, Tuesday BSC.”
Arts and crafts are always available in OSHC, just look at these amazing creations!
BALLOONS have been the best thing flying around BSC this week, we have had Monsters, Scary Balloon People, Balloon games, Balloon Badminton, Balloon races and lots of BURST Balloons!
What absolutely glorious weather we have had this week, the children were able to be outdoors, playing group games, dancing games on the oval, being able to utilise the sports shed equipment, the sand pit and free time around the playground.
Please keep in mind the children still need to be wearing hats in OSHC as per our sun smart policy and guidelines. We are looking into getting a few spares for the days when some children forget.
We would love to hear your comments and feedback on our ASC, BSC and VAC programs, forms will be sent home this week. Your feedback is important to us as a service.
Here’s to another fun filled week in OSHC,
Kerryn.
