Issue 21/2024

From the Principal

Welcome back to Yackandandah Primary School for Term Three. I hope you found some quality family time over the school holidays.

Thanks to a grant from Yackandandah Community Centre, we now have soccer goals in place on the school oval. Thanks to Tarn, Owen and their families for helping to assemble the goals over the weekend and set them in place. I’ve no doubt they will get plenty of use.

There are plenty of extra-curricular events happening this term, especially for older students. Please keep an eye on school and class communications to ensure you are up to date with all that is taking place.

We’re looking forward to a great term of learning – in all its different forms.

Times Table Rockstar

Congratulations to the following students who have turned their heat maps green on timetables rockstars this week. This means they are consistently answering the 12x tables questions in 4 seconds or less.

Renn Thompson (3/4A)

Will Boddenberg (3/4R)

Jim Kelley (5/6B)

Matilda Ridgeway (5/6B)

Wil McCormack (5/6E).

A reminder to all Grades 3-6 students and parents at home, it’s recommended a “little and often” approach is adopted; 3 minutes practice a day, 4 or 5 times a week is a good target.

Contact your child’s teacher if you require more information on how you can support your child to turn their heat map green.

Hot Lunch News

Welcome to the Term 3 Hot Lunch Menu!

A 'Hot Lunch' option is offered to students on Fridays from week 2 onwards during the school term. The lunch is served at 11 am, and includes an individually served hot meal and fruit platter to share. Each Hot Lunch meal costs $5.

Parents, carers and senior students volunteer their time (Friday's 9am-11:30am) to collect ingredients, prepare, cook and serve the hot meal. The meals are delivered to the classroom, where the class teacher will hand them out to the students that have ordered them.

We have some delicious Hot Lunches on the menu for this term!

If you would like to place an order, please use the link below to complete a separate Google form for each of your children by FRIDAY 19th July, 2024.

**We do our best to cater for students with alternative dietary needs (e.g. allergies/intolerances, vegetarian/vegan, etc.). Please indicate these on the order form**

We also need and welcome kitchen helpers, so please indicate on the form if you are able to assist. No experience needed; we love to have new faces in the kitchen!
