Welcome back to school for Term Four. We look forward to a solid term of learning with the children. Please note that our school concert will be held on Thursday 24th October at the Yackandandah Town Hall. At the school concert children will perform their items from the Arts Festival held earlier in the year, along with songs from the choir. There will be a matinee performance at 12:30 and an evening performance at 6:30.
Emergency Management Information
As we approach Summer it is a good time to re-familiarise ourselves with the school’s bushfire procedures. Our school plans for a range of hazards, such as bushfire, severe weather and building fires. We develop specific response procedures to address these risks.
We also conduct drills regularly, ensuring that our core procedures of on-site and off-site evacuation, sheltering-in-place, and lockdown/lockouts are well-rehearsed and understood by staff and students.
Our school is considered at risk of bushfire or grassfire. We are Category 3 on the Bushfire At-Risk Register. Our school will close on days of Catastrophic fire danger in the North-East district.
If we enact our emergency management plan, we will notify you by email, compass notification and Facebook post with updates on our actions. Please do not come to the school unless directed to do so, as you may put yourself and others in danger. If there is anything we need you to do, we will let you know.
During an emergency, the school will work closely with emergency services to get specific advice to keep our community safe. Additionally, the Department of Education has dedicated emergency management staff to help monitor the situation and provide additional support to schools during emergencies.
If you have any questions about our school’s emergency management plan, please contact us at (02) 60271431. Please be assured our top priority is the safety of our students and school community.

Welcome to the Term 4 Hot Lunch Menu!
A 'Hot Lunch' option is offered to students on Fridays from week 2 onwards during the school term. The lunch is served at 11 am, and includes an individually served hot meal and fruit platter to share. Each Hot Lunch meal costs $5.
Parents, carers and senior students volunteer their time (9am-11:35am or 11.15-12.30pm) to collect ingredients, prepare, cook and serve the hot meal. The meals are delivered to the classroom, where the class teacher will hand them out to the students that have ordered them.
We have some delicious Hot Lunches on the menu for this term!
If you would like to place an order, please use the link below to complete a separate Google form for each of your children by FRIDAY 11th October, 2024.
**We do our best to cater for students with alternative dietary needs (e.g. allergies/intolerances, vegetarian/vegan, etc.). Please indicate these on the order form**
We also need and welcome kitchen helpers, so please indicate on the form if you are able to assist. No experience needed; we love to have new faces in the kitchen!

Division Athletics
Our Division Athletics event is on this Friday 11th October at the Albury, Les O’Brien Athletics Precinct.
Students who have qualified can participate in 2 events, plus the relay. I met with all the students to discuss details regarding the event, and I have given them a timetable with important information included.
Also, there was an error with the information sent home. The bus is leaving at 8:30am – before the school bus arrives. Please ignore the information in brackets on the sheet sent home. You will need to make sure your child is at school by 8:20am, so I can account for all students.
Students will be travelling by bus and there will be a cost of $10 to cover the entry fee and bus expenses. There will be no canteen on the day, so like House and District Athletics, students are to take a packed lunch, snacks, a broad brimmed hat, water bottles and sunscreen. Students are expected to wear school uniform.
Robyn Wilson and Lauren will be the staff in attendance on the day.
The Victorian Interschool Snow Sports Championships is held at Mount Buller every year. It was another poor ski season in Australia, and once again Mount Buller did a commendable job of snow making and grooming to ensure that the courses had enough cover. This year the team from Yackandandah Primary school was just the Allan family girls (Sierra, Neve and Kaia) with Team Managers Cathy and Nic Allan. Kaia unfortunately got struck down with gastro and could not compete in the second day of her events. Aside from this hiccup a great time was had by all, and we look forward to competing again next year! Hopefully more people might join us next time, and we might try some of the other disciplines as well including X Country skiing and snowboarding events.
