Thanks everyone who has volunteered some time for the Folk Festival – including those who have been busy preparing food over the last couple of weeks. The folk festival is only a week away. If you think you may have some free time to help, please consider accessing the help sheet and registering some time.
Please remember that the school grounds are not supervised before 8:40 each morning. Parents are responsible for their children (and their children’s actions) before that time. Before School Care is available if required.

Over the coming weeks in SEL, students will be learning about online safety. Staff will be delivering lessons that guide students through 4C’s that promote positive digital citizenship skills, they are Conduct, Consent, Contact, Compulsion.
Educating children and developing their skills within the online world works in a protective way to, hopefully, limit unsafe practices and online interactions in the future. As well as this, it also increases students’ confidence in help seeking when things aren’t going so well.
At Yackandandah Primary School, we have an Acceptable Use Agreement for Digital Learning. If you’re keen, you can read this document by following the link below to our school’s policies page.
https://www.yackaps.vic.edu.au/page/188/Policies-and-Documents
Having a shared responsibility approach to online safety will see more positive outcomes for all.
One week until Folky- yippee!

House Cross-Country
The House Cross-Country event is taking place on Thursday 27th March, at the Yackandandah Sports Park. The event will begin at 9am and we ask that students be dropped off at the sports park directly, after 8.40am, rather than going to school. The school bus will drop kids off at the sports park, and a teacher will walk with students from Before School Care, at 8.40am.
Permission forms are being sent out today, these will be due back by Friday 21st March.
A draft timetable is below.
Students will be competing in their houses and are encouraged to wear their house colours for the day. Students should also wear appropriate footwear and bring their bag with snacks and water. Ribbons will be handed out for students who come 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their age group and gender.
In the senior age groups (9/10, 11, 12/13) up to 10 runners from each classification can qualify for the District event, however, students will need to demonstrate that they can run the course in a competitive time to qualify. The District event will be held in Beechworth on Tuesday, 20th May.
Drink bottles and sunscreen
Just a reminder for all students to please bring a drink bottle to school, particularly on days they have sport. With regards to sunscreen, students who require ‘alternative’ sunscreen to what we have at school (various 50+ SPF brands) need to have this sunscreen available in their school bags ready to apply for our PE sessions. Some students apply their preferred sunscreen at home before school commences, however it only lasts around 4 hours and needs to be re-applied at school.
