From the Principal

Welcome back to school for Term Two 2025. Brendan Hogan has returned after long service leave and will join his Yr. 5/6 class. Thanks to Leisha for looking after the class during Term One.

School Review
In Term Three this year our school will undergo a cyclical review. This happens every four years and involves an independent reviewer, school staff and Department of Education staff and the school council president reviewing our school’s progress against our strategic goals. The process is lengthy and detailed but ultimately rewarding. It will involve consultation with school staff, students and families, alongside an examination of a broad range of statistical data. By the end of the review, we will have a new strategic plan that will shape our work until the late 2020’s. More information about the school review will be shared closer to the event.

ANZAC DAY
Each year students from Yackandandah Primary School participate in the Anzac Day march and attend the service in the memorial gardens.
We meet by the bottom pub this Friday in Yackandandah a little before 9:30am to gather for the march. A wreath will be laid by school captains on behalf of Yackandandah Primary School and the choir will sing the National Anthem and another song. We request that students wear school uniform for the march and service.
We understand that some students may be in scout uniform and march with the scouts - no problem at all with that.

We hope to see you there on Friday morning!

Voluntary Family Contributions
Thank you to all the families who have paid the contributions for this year. . Yackandandah Primary School rely on these financial contributions to assist us with the purchasing of art, music and physical education equipment and resources, which in turn, supports us in offering specialist French, Music and Art classes. These contributions also enable us to enrich learning as well as provide camps and excursions for students.
Due to Department guidelines, we are unable to show the Curriculum contributions on the family statements until after they are paid.

Below is a summary of the suggested voluntary contributions per child. When paying please ensure you put your name and contributions in the reference.

Hot Lunch

Welcome to the Term 2 Hot Lunch Menu!

A 'Hot Lunch' option is offered to students on Fridays from week 2 onwards during the school term. The lunch is served at 11 am, and includes an individually served hot meal and fruit platter to share. Each Hot Lunch meal costs $5.

Parents, carers and senior students volunteer their time (9am-11:35am or 11.15-12.30pm) to collect ingredients, prepare, cook and serve and clean up after the hot meal. The meals are delivered to the classroom, where the class teacher will hand them out to the students that have ordered them.

We have some delicious Hot Lunches on the menu for this term!

If you would like to place an order, please use the link below to complete a separate Google form for each of your children. Orders for week 2 need to be placed by MONDAY 28th APRIL, and orders for the rest of the term need to be placed by FRIDAY 2nd MAY, 2025.

**We do our best to cater for students with alternative dietary needs (e.g. allergies/intolerances, vegetarian/vegan, etc.). Please indicate these on the order form**

We also need and welcome kitchen helpers, so please indicate on the form if you are able to assist. No experience needed, we love to have new faces in the kitchen!

District Cross-Country
Tuesday 20th May we have the District Cross Country event which will be held in Beechworth. Closer to the date, I will arrange a meeting with the successful participants to discuss the District Carnival arrangements and to send home permission forms. Since we have many participants, some students will need to travel by car with a parent/s to the event since we can’t all fit on the bus. If parents are taking their own child to this event, please let me know, so you don’t get charged a bus fee.
