Next week we have ten students attending Somers Camp on the Mornington Peninsula. The camp is for nine days and involves a wide variety of activities. One of our teachers, Earle Mason, is also attending as a visiting teacher. Somers Camp is run by the department of education. We are allocated a small number of places for Yr. 5/6 students every second year. Selection of students came down to a luck of the draw pick. I’m sure Earle and the students attending will have an amazing time.
Next Monday (16th June) at the beginning of our School Council meeting I will be sharing the 2024 Annual Report for Yackandandah Primary School. The meeting begins at 6pm and will be held at the school. Parents are welcome to attend and view the report. The Annual Report is also available on our school website.
We are looking to remove the pizza oven from the school as a means of creating more play space for our students. I’m not sure how relocatable the pizza oven is, but if you are interested in giving it a new home, drop into school and have a look. We understand that the pizza oven is a potentially handy resource to have on hand for the school community, but our focus is on what is best for the children on a daily basis.

Division Cross Country
Ari’s parents would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the students who ran alongside Ari at the Division Cross Country event in Wodonga on Friday 30th May. They shared, “It was so heartwarming to see their actions and how happy they were for him!”
We also received compliments both on the day and via email this week, acknowledging the positive, supportive way our students encouraged one another throughout the event. It’s a wonderful reflection of the values we strive to foster in our school community.

The Winter Sports Carnival for students in Years 3 to 6 will take place in Wodonga on Friday 25th July (the first Friday back in Term 3). Our school will be competing against other local schools in our network.
We have entered five sports again this year: volleyball, tee-ball, soccer, AFL, and netball. Teams and divisions have already been submitted. Venues and further event details are yet to be confirmed and will be shared as soon as they are available.
Students will play multiple games throughout the day against different schools, sometimes with little time between matches. To help them stay energised and comfortable, please ensure your child brings:
Some sports may require specific gear in addition to the school uniform, or the uniform provided by the school. While none of these items are compulsory, your child may choose to bring:
To help students prepare, Winter Sport training sessions will be held during school hours from 12:45–1:45pm on the following Fridays:
Parents and families are invited to come along and support their child/ren on the day of the Carnival. I recommend you bring a chair, blanket, snacks, and drinks to stay comfortable throughout the event. Start times will vary depending on the sport, and further information will be shared in upcoming newsletters.

Hello everyone,
My name is Briana—many of you around town would know me as Bri.
A little bit about me: I'm in my third year at La Trobe University, studying to become a primary school teacher. I'm currently working at Yackandandah Primary School doing some OSHC work, and I’m absolutely loving it!
Children’s education is very important to me, and I believe every child should have access to it, no matter their situation at home. That’s why I’ve signed up for the Dream Run, a fundraiser organised by The Smith Family's Learning for Life program.
My job this month is to run 50km. Your job is much easier—just scan the QR code to visit my page and donate to support these beautiful children.
We already reached our target in just 4 days!! Which means we have already provided 10 book packs to children and 7 primary school packs! So, we have upped the target
Thank you, Yack! Bri
