From the Principal

Congratulations to the Yr. 3/4 students and staff on a successful three-day camp at Howman’s Gap, Falls Creek. It was fantastic to see all the children make the most of their opportunities and try new and challenging activities. For some children the prospect of a three-day, two-night camp can be daunting, but only by facing the challenge can they gain the confidence to face new challenges and thrive. I was especially pleased to see children supporting each other over the three days. Huge thanks to the 3/4 staff for giving up their family time to make the camp happen, and equally big thanks to the parent helpers, Faith Deans and Zac Hillier, for giving their time to help all children make the most of the experience.

Two Yackandandah Primary School students, Sara Davison and Willis Hogg are joining representatives from other schools in Indigo Shire to be a part of the Indigo Shire Junior Ambassador program. Over the next few weeks, they will participate in workshops led by Indigo Shire staff to develop leadership and personal skills. Well done Sara and Willis!

It is the final term of the year, so Christmas is looming on the horizon. It is a good time to remember that we still have copies of the Yackandandah Primary School cookbook ‘A Little Taste of Yack’ for sale. This beautifully designed and published cookbook is an ideal Christmas present for anyone who was unlucky enough not to receive one last year. Copies are available from the school office.

Artwork of the Week

The following linocut prints by students across 5/6E, 5/6B and 5/6L are all very strong examples of a repeated pattern. The printmaking process is quite elaborate, especially when trying to ink up the linocut multiple times to create a finished print.

Students: Henry L, Lenny G, Grace W, Hunter, Seb, Billie and Lara B

Here are some amazing Artworks from 3/4C students who have been discussing positive and negative spaces.

OSHC News

Farewell from OSHC
I’d like to let our OSHC families know that I will be finishing up in my role at OSHC on Thursday, 21st November. It’s been an absolute pleasure getting to know all of the wonderful children and families.

While I’ll be stepping away from OSHC, I won’t be going far. I’ll still be around the school, working in the office alongside Sandra.

I’m very pleased to be passing the baton to Brianna, a local Yackandandah ex-student who many of you may already know. Brianna has been part of our OSHC team in a casual role over the past two years and will continue to bring great energy and care to the program.

I wish Brianna and the OSHC team all the very best moving forward, and I want to sincerely thank our families for your support, kindness, and connection over my time in OSHC. It’s been a joy to be part of your children’s days.

Thanks, Kerryn.

Pupil Free Day 3rd November
We regret to inform you that due to significant and ongoing staff shortages, we will be unable to operate our OSHC Program to cover the scheduled Pupil Free Day on Monday 3rd November.

We’re sharing this information as early as possible to allow you time to make alternative care arrangements. We understand how important reliable care is, especially on pupil free days, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

This has been a difficult decision, and we want to reassure you that every effort was made to find a workable solution. Unfortunately, we’re unable to meet the staffing requirements necessary to deliver a safe and high-quality program during this time.
Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support for our OSHC service. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
