School Concert
The annual Yackandandah Primary School concert will be held on Thursday 27th November this year at the Yackandandah Town Hall. The concert will begin at 6pm. Each class will showcase a musical performance along with performances from the choir. There will be a dress rehearsal at 1pm if family members who cannot make the 6pm performance still want to view the concert.
The aim of the concert is to give children the opportunity to perform in front of an audience and experience the performance aspect of the Arts curriculum. We look forward to seeing families there.

Social and Emotional Learning
This term, students at Yackandandah PS will be exploring the fourth topic in the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships program. It’s called, Problem Solving.
The aim of this topic is to assist students with recognising that there are many healthy, positive ways to solve problems. They’ll learn about some cooperative behaviours they can demonstrate when working with others to solve problems, as well as the importance of recognising other perspectives and having understanding and empathy.
The World Health Organisation identifies Problem-solving as a key skill for health. To be able to solve problems, we need to be able to think critically, evaluate consequences of actions (upsides/downsides) and we need to have an effective toolkit of strategies and people around us for support. Students will be learning skills through class discussions, role plays and working within scenarios so they can gain perspective and insight. Children face challenges every day, just as adults do. It’s important that we as educators share with them healthy ways of solving problems and guide and support them through their practice at school.
You might like to talk with your child/ren about how you solve problems and share in a discussion around the importance of learning these skills.
Enjoy your weekend.
Thanks,
Stace Hogan
This week's Hot Lunch was BLT/MLT Rolls.
A classic and very popular lunch to round out the 3-day school week!
Many thanks to everyone that has already volunteered to help with Hot Lunch duty this term. There are still a few slots to fill (marked in yellow), please reach out if you are able to help.
No experience needed, just a WWCC. We love to have new faces in the kitchen and we'll send you home with a delicious lunch to say thank you :)

Bike Riding
This year, each class will have the opportunity to ride their bike for one session.
*Please complete the survey below to help me organise these sessions.
https://forms.gle/vxkQW96FYRYTL9VA6
Foundation, Grade 1, and Grade 2 students will be riding at school on the basketball court and oval.
Grade 3 to Grade 6 students will be riding on the bike rail trail, as they did last year, heading from school towards Osbornes Flat during their allocated PE class.
We are seeking two/three parent volunteers from the Grade 3–6 classes to join us on the riding sessions to assist with supervision and safety. Without these volunteers, we won’t be able to ride on the bike trail – instead students will be riding around the school grounds. All volunteers will require a WWCC (Working with Children Check).
In preparation, please check your child’s bike to ensure the brakes, tyres, chain, and gears are all in good working order. A helmet is essential, so make sure your child has one or can borrow one.
If your child does not have a bike, please let me know — I may be able to arrange for another family to share one. And if your child still uses training wheels, that’s absolutely fine! They’ll still have the opportunity to join in and ride around the basketball court during their session.
Please see the bike riding schedule below:
