We’re heading into the final stretch of Term 1, and what a wonderful and busy term we have shared together. Looking ahead to next week, I am delighted to welcome Cindy Rebbechi, our second Principal for Terms 2, 3 and 4, on Tuesday. Cindy will be spending the day meeting students and staff and getting to know our school and the amazing things that happen here. If you see Cindy around, please be sure to say hello and introduce yourself.
On Wednesday, we have our whole-school cross country event at the sports park. This is always a fantastic opportunity for students to demonstrate resilience, cheer on their housemates and enjoy time with friends. Students will need to be dropped off at the sports park from 8:40am onwards. Please see the Sport section of the newsletter for further information.
Then on Thursday, the final day of term, our Junior School Council (JSC) will be holding a casual clothes day with a gold coin donation, raising funds to support future JSC initiatives. What a fun way to end a great term.
Please note that the last school day this term finishes early at 2:30pm. Assembly will begin at around 2:10pm.
Folk Festival Wrap Up
Last weekend, our school community proudly took part in the Yackandandah Folk Festival, with parents assisting with the setup of the Sunday markets and coming together to serve food at our wonderful community dinner on Saturday night. I would like to sincerely thank everyone for their incredible teamwork and willingness to pitch in. These events were not only a fantastic celebration of community spirit but also marked another highly successful fundraising weekend for our school. Well done.
On behalf of the school, I would also like to thank Trish and Paul Anderson, along with Alyce and Orrin Pritchard, for coordinating this year’s school community dinner (and others before it). We acknowledge the countless hours spent ordering food, planning quantities and rolling many, many koftas. We are deeply grateful for your commitment, organisation and dedication to ensuring the legacy of the school community dinner continues to thrive.
Have a restful weekend.

Acting Principal

Have a lovely Easter break!
Another sensational Folk Festival Street Parade is done and dusted! It was absolutely wonderful to see so many whimsical Mary Blair inspired creations and fantastical fairytale characters marching in the parade! We loved seeing all the enthusiasm for face painting, busking, food stalls, bush dancing, singing, not to mention the awesome Year 5/6 bucket drumming, led by Miriam, that helped make this year's street parade a resounding success! A huge shout out to Nora Glanville for helping us paint in chalk all the names of the different groups marching in the parade last Friday night!!
Thank you, Caz & Mandy

What a weekend to remember! Our Folk Festival absolutely came alive with the electric buzz of the street parade; it was community spirit at its very best.
Our Community Dinner and Dessert Stall were pumping, the Sunday market was buzzing, and it was incredible to see so many people soaking up the atmosphere in our beautiful little town.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came along, supported, and brought the good vibes all weekend long. And a special shoutout to our superstar volunteers, you are the heart of it all, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

House Cross-Country
The House Cross-Country event is taking place next Wednesday 1st April, at the Yackandandah Sports Park. The event will begin at 9am and we ask that students be dropped off at the sports park directly, after 8.40am, rather than going to school. The school bus will drop kids off at the sports park, and a teacher will walk with students from Before School Care, at 8.40am.
A draft timetable is below.

Students will be competing in their houses and are encouraged to wear their house colours for the day. Students should also wear appropriate footwear and bring their bag with snacks, water and their broad brimmed hat. Ribbons will be handed out for students who come 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their age group and gender.
In the senior age groups (9/10, 11, 12/13) up to 10 runners from each classification can qualify for the District event, however, students will need to demonstrate that they can run the course in a competitive time to qualify. The District event will be held in Beechworth at a date still yet to be decided. I will publish the date in the newsletter once known.
