It’s great to see so many grandparents and special friends at school today. The children are keen to share their classrooms and school experiences. Thanks to all the extended family and friends who visited.
Please keep in mind the drainage works at the north side of the Hammond/Wellsford St intersection during the busy pick up and drop off time. A little extra care will be needed.
The usual round of winter coughs and colds has struck. If your child is ill, please keep them home until they are well again. We can’t avoid the colds, but hopefully we can keep the spread to a minimum.
Enjoy your long weekend!
This week: Savannah Lockett and Felix Anderson

A delicious hot lunch to close out a very cold week!
The volunteer roster is now full, thank you everybody!
Bonjour!
On Monday 1st June the whole school attended a French incursion with Melbourne Djembe, at the Public Hall, across three workshops throughout the day. The students learnt some interesting facts about French speaking countries in Africa, traditional language, and West African drumming and dance. It was wonderful to see all the students fully engaged with Mitzi, Simon and Boubacar during their 1-hour workshops. It was particularly exciting for each student to have their own Djembe drum to use during the workshops- there were enough for everyone!
A special thank you goes to the Greenwood/Grogan family for very generously offering their B&B for our guests to stay in on Monday night. Merci beaucoup!

Art Excursion Adventure to MAMA!
Armed with umbrellas, gumboots and plenty of enthusiasm, students from F/1K, F/1ER, 1/2T, 2/3R, 3/4A and 3/4E embraced the winter weather and set off on a creative adventure to the Murray Art Museum Albury (MAMA).
The day was bursting with inspiration, beginning with a hands-on art workshop in the museum studio, followed by a guided exploration of the exhibition spaces. Students were captivated by local Aboriginal artist Ruth Davys’ thought-provoking Yamandhu wudhagarbinya? installation, the intricate miniature works and unique oil paintings on red box and white box gum leaves by Alfred W. Eustace, who lived and painted in Chiltern over 150 years ago, and the contemporary artworks of Wooragee artist Catherine Stewart.
When the rain eased, our Year 2/3 and Year 3/4 students seized the opportunity to venture out on an Urban Art Walking Tour through Albury. They were thrilled to discover two artists, Kristina Greenwood and Tyrone Savanah, in action as they transformed walls into vibrant large-scale murals. Students asked thoughtful questions, gained insight into the creative process, and enjoyed connecting with artists working in the real world.
The artistic journey concluded with a visit to the Albury Library Museum exhibition, ‘How to Draw a Dinosaur’, where imagination and creativity roared to life!
A huge thank you to our YPS staff and wonderful parent helpers for making this memorable experience possible. Opportunities like these allow students to step beyond the classroom, immerse themselves in a variety of artistic environments, and engage with practising artists, sparking creativity, curiosity and a deeper appreciation for the arts.
Thank you,
Caz & Mandy

It's only fitting that we share some of the works created in the studio at MAMA this week! This hands-on art activity in the studio space at MAMA explored mark making. The students made textured rubbings using oil pastels with gum leaves placed under tracing paper. These works look stunning when held up against the light!

Division Cross Country Wrap-Up
Congratulations to all 23 students who represented our school at the Division Cross Country event on Friday, 29th May at Willow Park, Wodonga! Despite the cold, foggy, and damp conditions, you all approached the day with a positive attitude and gave your best effort.
Your enthusiasm, determination, and the way you encouraged and supported one another truly reflected our school values and made us incredibly proud.
A special congratulations to the 10 students who placed in the top 12 of their events and have qualified for the Regional Cross Country Championships in Benalla on Friday, 12th June. Information regarding this event was distributed to qualifying students last Friday.
We wish all of our runners the very best. We understand that some students will be unable to attend due to the Grade 5/6 camp taking place at the same time. Reaching this stage is a fantastic achievement, and you should all be proud of your efforts.
To those competing at Regionals, keep up the training, give it your best, and remember to double-knot those shoelaces!
All the best,
Robyn
