Thank you to parents/carers, students and staff for enabling the Week 1 swimming program to run so smoothly. Students were organised with their bathers and towels, ready to participate. The students’ have had a wonderful time at the pool and are learning such valuable life-skills.

The Week 2 program starts on Monday-Friday. 5 /6B, 5/6L and 1 /2T will be having their swimming lessons. Parents/carers, please ensure these students have everything they need for their lesson each day.

Next week (Wednesday-Friday), the Year 3 /4 students are off to Camp in Melbourne. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to be immersed in a wide variety of city-based activities. If you have any questions regarding the camp, please contact the office.

Just a reminder that the school term will end on Friday 18^th Sept and there will be a 2:30pm finish.

Cody Ellingham - by making positive choices, showing initiative in learning, and checking in during tasks to help stay on track.

Arlie Johnstone - for smashing out his fractions work. You have done an excellent job during our fraction’s unit!

Jim MacCalman -for putting a lot of effort, creativity, and learning into both of his Maths Fair games that included his passion for golf.

Felix Anderson- for planning and creating some really well-crafted writing during our creative writing lessons. 

Kaidence Corben -for taking great pride in her bookwork. Kaidence pays close attention to the details and has produced some excellent written work this week.

Amber Wallace - For showing improvement in resilience and persistence during Sport. You have worked hard to keep trying when activities have been challenging. Keep up the great work, Amber! 

Max Beggington - For consistently giving 100% effort and approaching every Sport session with incredible enthusiasm, determination and bucket loads of energy! Good on you, Max! 

WE SHOW RESPECT

Kleo Schlup – Carson-  by demonstrating a strong sense of justice during our SEL unit. You expressed what was right and wrong during our gender unit. 

Rory McIntyre- for being an outstanding leader in the classroom this week. Rory has listened attentively to others and been ready to learn.

Molly Maslen -  being an excellent listener and contributor to class discussions where you display confidence and a positive attitude. Well done, Molly!

Amaya Whitley - by making the most of her Monday writing workshops with Liz to develop her narrative writing skills

To celebrate book week our Book Character Dress-Up Day will be held on Friday 18th September - the very last day of Term 3! We’re inviting all our students to start thinking about their favourite book character and, most importantly, start getting creative with their costumes! Will we see superheroes, magical creatures, adventurous explorers, cheeky characters or someone straight from the pages of a much-loved story?

The big finale!
Our morning will begin with the traditional Yackandandah Book Character Parade, where our wonderful characters will come together in a spectacular “symphony” of stories! Students will parade their costumes at our morning assembly, and parents, families and grandparents are very welcome to join us and cheer them on.

Then it’s time to get creative!
Classes will take part in special art activities inspired by the CBCA-shortlisted books. So, families, you might want to start making a little extra room on the fridge -  there will be plenty of wonderful artwork coming home!

So, YPS families… let the costume brainstorming begin!
Start thinking, start creating and start getting excited - because on Friday 18th September, our school will be bursting with stories, characters, colour, creativity and a whole lot of Book Week magic!

To celebrate Book Week, we’re holding a Second-Hand Book Sale on Friday 18th September during Recess, from 1:45pm–2:30pm.

Bring along your spare change and grab yourself a pre-loved book (or two… or three!). With books priced from just 10¢ to $2, there’s something for everyone!

Every book purchased helps us raise money for our school library, so you can discover a great read while supporting our library at the same time!

Happy Book Week!

There was such a high level of motivation, engagement, inspiration and a "Caz-trophe" (a Caz catastrophe, new art term courtesy of a year 6 student!) going on in the art room this week, that I just couldn't choose only one series of artworks to highlight!!!

Firstly, to the brilliant cohort of Year 5/6s, capable, adaptable (especially when we nearly ran out of timber pieces as the sculptures where being assembled), and totally up to the task of being trusted to work in the art room with hot glue guns and white gesso paint! The Year 5/6 sculptures, inspired by Stephen Ormondy, will be stored until completion in the school foyer from Monday next week, so please pop in and observe their progress over the remaining few weeks this term. 

A huge shout out to all the artistic Year 3/4A, 3/4E and 2/3R students, for continuing to excel at drawing from direct observation and observing a still life collection. A special mention to Year 3/4E and their effort and work ethic once focused and paying attention to the details, shadows, light and dark, adding a frame and a table cloth pattern. They worked collaboratively on large sheets of butchers paper using charcoal dust, soft willow charcoal and erasers. Bravo!!

• 5th Quarter Camps are visiting J C Lowe oval in Yarrawonga for the first time these school holidays on Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th September, followed by Urana Road Oval in Lavington on the Thursday 1^st October, for an unforgettable AFL experience.

• GWS Giants Captain Toby Greene and Geelong Cats spearhead Jeremy Cameron will be in attendance, with additional talent to be confirmed. Stay tuned to 5QC socials over the coming weeks for further announcements! 

• This football clinic gives boys and girls aged 5-13 of all skill levels the chance to meet, learn and train alongside some of the biggest names in the game.

• Our footy camps focus on fun, confidence and building strong footy fundamentals. Children will take part in drills, challenges, and small-group coaching designed to improve kicking, handballing, marking, decision-making and game awareness, with tutorials from AFL players throughout the day.
