Our digital devices policy has been updated. The Department of Education has updated its global policy around mobile phones in schools to include other devices such as smart glasses. A draft policy is available to read on our website here: https://www.yackaps.vic.edu.au/page/188/Policies-and-Documents
You are welcome to provide feedback on the policy prior to our next School Council meeting in November. Please keep in mind that most of the policy is determined by the Department of Education and we are not able to change most of what you read.

We’re having a fabulous time exploring the art of gel-plate printing, where every print is a little adventure! Each press and peel reveals exciting new shapes, colours and textures, with even our ghost prints creating their own unique magic. No two prints are ever quite the same!
Once we’ve built up a collection of prints, we’ll dive into the wonderful world of collage, transforming our creations into still lifes and nature-inspired landscapes.
Here’s a peek at some of the beautiful artwork created so far! Hush’s prints (the first two) showcase the magic of the process, Hughie from Year 3/4 has created eye-catching patterns, Harvey’s warm-coloured shapes are bursting with warmth, and Percy from Year 5/6 has made a bold statement with a striking use of red.

Last day of Dance for 2026!!
Huge thanks to Robyn for her AH-Mazing Sports Program!
Sea Otter Australia 2026 (MTB) School Championships
Yackandandah Primary School was represented in the Yr. 4/5/6 Boys Primary division by Hugo D, Zack D and Hughie V.
Riders had four hours to record a time on four different trails at Mogo (Batemans Bay) on NSW south coast. Riders had to pedal to the start of each trail and could complete each run as many times as they could; with their best four downhill times contributing to their overall time and rank.
In hot and dusty conditions, the Yack boys recorded fantastic results: finishing 3rd, 4th and 30th in a field of 85 riders from across Australia.
A special mention to Hughie, who overcame an injury from practice - and with sheer determination to better his initial time on the xc course, improved by almost 40 seconds to move up the overall rankings!

Looking Back at Last Week – Around the World!
Last week, we packed our imaginary suitcases and travelled around the world, exploring different countries and cultures through exciting activities, challenges and delicious food!
One of our biggest highlights was our Chopstick Challenge, where children put their coordination and patience to the test by picking up pom-poms using chopsticks. A huge congratulations to Max Wickham, who collected a record-breaking 87 pom-poms in just two minutes! What an incredible effort, Max!
Our European adventures took us to Italy, where children became little chefs and made their very own homemade pizzas! We saw some wonderfully creative designs, from super-thick pizzas to heart-shaped masterpieces.
We also enjoyed some safari-inspired fun while exploring Africa, before heading to the Americas to design our very own Hollywood Walk of Fame stars!
To finish our journey, we explored Oceania by creating volcanoes and didgeridoos, bringing a fantastic week of creativity, discovery and adventure to an end!
What a wonderful week travelling the world together!

Thursday – Boo! Who's There?
Things are getting a little spooky! We'll be making floating ghosts and skeleton hand artwork before heading into the kitchen to create mummy savoury pastries. Children will also put their construction skills to the test with our Haunted House LEGO Challenge!
