The famous Yackandandah Folk Festival was born out of a Yackandandah Primary School fundraising activity many years ago.
The festival has grown bigger over the years and is now a whole community effort. The primary school maintains its role in the festival by having responsibility for the markets that operate on the Sunday of the festival along with a community meal prepared by school volunteers on the Saturday night.
The markets and the music festival attract thousands of visitors to Yackandandah and form a major part of the school’s fundraising efforts. The part the school plays in the Folk Festival is only possible through the volunteer contributions of time and expertise provided by a number of parent volunteers.
Enquiries regarding the Sunday Market or the Community Dinner can be made to the school on (02) 6027 1431.
